How to relist an item on Vinted (and when it is worth it)

, 5 min read

A listing that has been online for weeks slides to the bottom of search results. There are three ways to put it back in front of buyers: relist it, lower the price or promote it. Each one has a different cost.

Why a listing stops selling

People searching on Vinted often see recently uploaded items first. As the days go by, your listing is overtaken by new ones, gets fewer views and fewer hearts. It is not a problem with the item: it is just less visible.

Before doing anything, check two things. If the listing already has lots of favourites, people find it but hesitate: the problem is the price, not visibility. If it has few views overall, the problem is that nobody sees it.

Option 1: relist by hand

Relisting means creating a new listing identical to the old one and deleting the original. That way it is back among the newest.

  1. Save the listing photos to your phone or computer.
  2. Copy the title and description into a note.
  3. Create a new listing with the same photos, category, brand, size and condition.
  4. Publish it and check it is live.
  5. Only then delete the old listing.

It works, but it takes a few minutes per listing. With dozens of items it becomes a job of its own.

The price you pay: the new listing starts from zero favourites and zero views. People who hearted the old one will no longer find it in their list.

Option 2: lower the price

If the listing has already collected hearts, lowering the price is often better than relisting: you keep the favourites and give hesitant buyers a reason to buy. A small but clear cut, for example from 40 to 35 euros, stands out more than one from 40 to 39.

An even more targeted alternative is to send a discounted offer directly to the people who hearted it: you only talk to people who are already interested.

Option 3: paid promotion

Vinted offers paid options that give listings more visibility for a few days. They can make sense for valuable items, where the cost is small compared with the sale price. For items worth a few euros, relisting or lowering the price usually pays off more.

Which one to choose

  • Few views, few hearts: relist.
  • Lots of hearts, no sale: lower the price or send an offer to the people who hearted it.
  • Valuable item that needs to sell quickly: consider promotion.

Relisting without doing it by hand

BackToFirst is a Chrome extension that relists the selected listings with the same photos and details, one after the other, with a pause between each. Before deleting the old one it saves a safety copy. You can also schedule a run every morning that brings only the oldest listings back to the top and skips those with lots of hearts.

Remember that Vinted does not officially support third-party tools: use them in moderation, a few relists a day rather than your whole wardrobe at once.
