Vinted offers: when to accept, when to decline and how to counter

, 6 min read

Offers are the most frequent part of selling on Vinted and also the one that eats the most time. With a few rules decided in advance you reply quickly and sell better.

How they work

A buyer proposes a price lower than the one listed. You can accept, and the buyer can pay straight away at that price, or make a counter-offer with a price in between. When you counter, the buyer's proposal closes and yours becomes the valid one.

Decide your minimum first

The most useful rule is also the simplest: for each item, set the price you will not go below. A practical way is to start from the listed price and accept anything within a certain discount, for example 10%.

  • Offer above your minimum: accept straight away. Waiting for a better offer often loses the buyer.
  • Offer slightly below: counter halfway or at your minimum.
  • Offer far below: still reply with a counter-offer at your minimum. Buyers who are really interested often accept.

Reply quickly

People who make an offer on Vinted are usually making offers to other sellers too. Replying within minutes rather than hours greatly increases the chance of closing with you.

Make the first move with people who heart your items

When someone adds one of your items to their favourites, you can send them a discounted offer yourself. They are your best audience: they have already chosen your item and are just waiting for the right moment. A modest discount, for example 5 to 10%, is often enough to convince them.

Do not overdo it: one offer per person and per item. Repeated messages to people who do not reply are annoying and risk being reported.

Use bundle discounts

In your profile settings you can turn on automatic discounts for people who buy several items together. They encourage adding a second item to the same order and save both of you money on shipping.

Automating with care

BackToFirst applies these rules for you. For each listing it works out a threshold: the highest of the price minus the maximum discount, the minimum you set for that item and an overall minimum. Offers above the threshold are accepted, those below receive a counter-offer. It can also send a discounted offer to people who heart an item, once per person.

The advice is to try it in Simulation mode first: for a few days you see what it would do with real offers, without sending anything. Orders with several items are always left to you.
